Chloe Kelly: Women in sport, supporting women in sport is incredible!

Come hell or high water, Lioness Chloe Kelly is so inspired by Red Roses ahead of the Rugby World Cup Final, that along with some of her teammates, she is aiming to be at Twickenham for the final tomorrow – even if she has to stick out her arm to hail a taxi!

Double Euros-winning Lioness Chloe Kelly (above, right) says England’s Red Roses have already made history, regardless of what happens in tomorrow’s Women’s Rugby World Cup Final.

Kelly, who scored the winning goals to lead England to victory at Euro 2022, and again this summer, shared her admiration for the Red Roses’ impact on women’s sport.

She said: “I think they’ve won in my eyes, in terms of inspiring so many of us, especially myself.

“They’ve been amazing and taken their sport to another level, hosting a tournament is incredible and I hope that the sport now has the backing to take their game forward.

“There are so many special talents within their squad, I had the pleasure of watching them in Northampton, and I was really inspired by their story.”

Despite her own match in North London at the Emirates – Arsenal v Aston Villa – finishing only a couple of hours before the final kicks off, Kelly is keen to show-up her fellow sportswomen/new friends, and make it to Twickenham to see the action, as England take on Canada.

She said: “There’s a few of us trying to get down to the game, maybe a little late but I want to support them in any way possible.

“I’ve stayed in contact with quite a few [Red Roses] after watching them play, so I’ve told Meg Jones (above, left), she has to do a celebration for me.”

Just as her Arsenal head coach Renée Slegers this week encouraged everyone to “invest in women. Invest in women’s sports. When we do that we all benefit,” Kelly put her own spin on this, by declaring that: “Women in sport, supporting women in sport is incredible!”
